City of Fond du Lac Police Investigate Critical Incident

Fond du Lac, WI: On Sunday, January 15th, 2023, at 9:17 p.m. the City of Fond du Lac Police Department responded to a call in the 1000 block of Martin Avenue for a report that a gun had been discharged inside the residence.

Upon arrival FDLPD Officers made contact with a female who was outside of the residence. Officers were informed that a 36-year-old male Fond du Lac resident was inside the residence alone in the basement when she heard a gunshot. FDLPD Officers were quickly able to contact the male and get him to a staged ambulance. City of Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue paramedics provided care for what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The male was initially transported by Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue to SSM Health (St. Agnes) and later transported to Theda Care (Neenah) by Theda Star medical helicopter for further treatment of critical injuries.

The investigation into this incident is at the preliminary stages and remains under active investigation. No further details or information are being released at this time.
