Vehicle Pursuit and Search Warrants Following Burglary
Fond du Lac, WI: On Monday, February 20, 2023, at 6:10 p.m. the City of Fond du lac Police Department responded to a burglary complaint in the 100 block of S. Portland Street. Initial information and video surveillance provided FDLPD Officers with a description of a suspect vehicle believed to be involved in the burglary.
On Tuesday, February 21, 2023 FDLPD Officers located the suspect vehicle parked in the 500 block of Russell Street and began surveillance on it while working on securing a search warrant. At approximately 8:35 a.m. two individuals entered the suspect vehicle and started to leave the area. FDLPD Officers conducted a traffic stop at the Speedway Gas Station (550 W. Johnson Street) and started to make their initial approach to the driver and passenger.
The suspect vehicle then took off and fled westbound on W. Johnson Street. The vehicle pursuit reached speeds of approximately 80 MPH. The suspect vehicle came to a stop near the intersection of Streblow Drive approximately two miles from the location of the initial traffic stop. FDLPD Officers conducted a high-risk stop and took the driver and passenger into custody.
The driver, a 32-year-old Fond du Lac male was initially held on a warrant through Probation and Parole and the passenger, a 48-year-old Fond du Lac male, was initially held on a probation hold.
Subsequently, FDLPD Detectives conducted a search warrant at a residence in the 500 block of Russell Street, a search warrant on the suspect vehicle, and an additional search of a residence in the 300 block of E. 10th Street.
FDLPD Detectives located nearly $56,000 in cash in the suspect vehicle and nearly $9,000 in cash on one of the occupants of the vehicle. A handgun was also located in the suspect vehicle. The searches also resulted in locating over three (3) pounds of marijuana and evidence of the initial burglary. FDLPD anticipates criminal charges of burglary, fleeing/eluding, felon in possession of a firearm, and possession with intent to deliver to be forthcoming.
The investigation into this burglary and vehicle pursuit is at the preliminary stages and remains under active investigation. No further details or information are being released at this time.
